In the highly competitive home furnishing market, the publishers challenge is to design a catalogue that will be a welcome addition to the home, that will not be out of place on the coffee table and will inspire design ideas for weeks and months to come.

High quality product catalogues bring special challenges to the printer too; to replicate the colour palette as closely as possible so that once a customer visualises an item from the catalogue in their home, their expectations are met when they visit in store.

Hannanprint’s flexible specification for the Freedom Autumn Collection catalogue allowed the inclusion of an extra Kitchen section for Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane metropolitan copies, state-specific version changes, ‘perfect bound’ glued spine for the magazine-like look, and more than two million copies printed, bound and delivered over a three week period.

Freedom’s choice of materials reflects their commitment to sustainable print and minimal environmental impact; chain-of-custody paper certifies that it is sourced from responsibly managed forests, biodegradable plastic wrapping protects the catalogue from the weather but eventually breaks down, however it is disposed of.

In August 2011 the Australian Catalogue Assn hosted their annual Catalogue Awards, which recognise excellence in catalogue design and effectiveness.
